🔹About the project

Backbase is a Dutch banking software financial technology company that provides a banking infrastructure software platform that it calls engagement banking. The system is used by financial institutions globally from large banks to credit unions and community banks.

🔹Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining complex Android applications in production environments.

• Experience in the banking or financial domain is a strong plus.

• Skilled at translating high-level business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.

• Strong engineering mindset and follow modern Agile practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

• Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) are part of your core workflow, ideally using tools like Bitrise or GitHub Actions.

• Mobile development expert who’s always ready to share best practices and lead by example — not just follow them.

• Strong technical expertise in Android architecture patterns such as MVI or MVVM.

• Experience with Jetpack Compose (at least on pet projects) and understanding of its role in modern Android UI development.

• Deep knowledge of Kotlin, especially Coroutines and Flows, and how to use them effectively in real-world applications.

• Solid grasp of Dependency Injection, with hands-on experience using frameworks like Koin (or similar).

• Strong understanding of Android security best practices, including SSL Pinning, secure data storage, encryption, etc.

• Hands-on proficiency with AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code.

• Practical experience with agents, skills, MCP servers, agentic SDLC.

• Practical AI leverage for increasing productivity
  

🔹Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable features using Kotlin for Android application development.

• UI/UX Implementation: Create modern, responsive, and pixel-perfect UIs utilizing Jetpack Compose and XML, aligning with Figma designs and the our in-house Mobile Design System.

• Modern Architecture: Maintain and advance a modularized codebase using clean architecture principles and MVVM / MVI patterns

• Customization & Extension: Customize, extend, and implement OOTB features, widgets, and journeys to match specific business requirements.

• SDK Integration: Implement and maintain integration with our in-house Mobile SDK, adhering to the platform’s architecture, configuration models, and best practices.

• Orchestration & APIs: Seamlessly integrate the Android application with Backbase Orchestration services, identity providers, and third-party banking APIs.

• Performance Optimization: Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks, ensure smooth animations, and optimize resource/battery consumption.

• Quality Assurance: Write robust unit, integration, and UI automated tests to ensure high code coverage and application stability.

• Code Quality: Actively participate in code reviews to ensure compliance with coding standards and share knowledge within the team.

• Agile Environment: Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contribute to technical grooming, task estimation, and continuous process improvement.

• Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate closely with Product Owners, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, and Backend teams (as well as Backbase Solution Architects if required).
